I have attempted (somewhat unsuccessfully) to get the RMLOA on board with this but I basically was told to have everyone sign up with them on their website and they will do everything. It defeats the purpose and Mile High Lacrosse League gets nothing in return.
If you are interested in doing any Youth or HS games this year. You need to sign up with the RMLOA www.rmloa.org. Again, you will not be assigned any youth or High School games if you do not register with the RMLOA. You will also need to have a US Lacrosse membership ($50). The RMLOA has 2 different training sessions. High School officials meet every Monday night, 6:30pm at Kent Denver High School and have classroom training. Youth officials will have a clinic at Mile High Stadium some time in the future. No date was set.
So, If they doesn't float your boat, here is the alternative.
Since, the RMLOA does not seem interested in helping us out, I will try to put together a classroom training session similar to theirs. I have been through a lot of them myself (13 years ago). I will not interfere with their schedule and we will meet on Tuesday nights at my house. I realize it might not be close for everyone but it's all I got for this first year.
Starting February 10th @ 6:30pm. We will meet for an hour and have formal class room instruction. We will meet every Tuesday until the games start on March 8th. This class is geared toward a brand new referee. Some of you have experience so you may not need to attend, however I will give a test which needs to be passed in order for you to officiate in the MHLL.
Once you pass the test you will be a Level 1 Official. The levels designators only matter to MHLL. RMLOA has something very similar but I'm not sure how they are working theirs. As a Level 1 Official I will assign you games in the RMLL you will work with an experienced official until you qualify to move up to Level 2 and so on. Level 1 officials will make less money then Level 2 ( L2 less than L3 etc....) Level 4 officials will make full pay and be used to train lower level officials.
I will start making qualifications for each of the levels and hopefully have something for you by the first training session.
Please let me know if you are going to attend. I'm trying to find rule books. I called Breakaway and Players Bench. Neither of those stores has the books. Chris at Lax World 303-322-6336 said his books should arrive in a week. Call before you go. You can download the rules only at http://www.uslacrosse.org/the_sport/rules.phtml but this does not have the situational section which is really important.
I will have more information on equipment at the first meeting.
If you have any questions please let me know. I will send out directions to my house next week. I live in SE Aurora near Parker and Arapahoe Rd.
Spread the word!!
